Frequently Asked Questions

David Jones Jr. Assisted Living Center Closure

Last Updated: September 17, 2025

Why is the assisted living center closing?

After 21 years of faithful service, the David Jones Jr. Assisted Living Center has faced mounting financial challenges and ongoing operational deficits that have become unsustainable over time. Despite exploring every possible alternative, including operational changes and various solutions, the financial pressures became too significant to continue without compromising other vital community ministries.

When will the facility close?

The targeted closure date is Friday, October 17, 2025.

Is the entire senior living program closing?

No. Only the assisted living center is closing. The independent living center, which serves seniors who can live independently, remains open and continues to operate successfully.

How many residents are affected?

Currently, 16 residents are transitioning from the assisted living center to new care facilities.

What support is being provided for residents?

The David Jones, Jr. Assisted Living Center is committed to the following transition support:

  • Personal assistance from our social worker in identifying and evaluating care options

  • Complete medical records and care plan transfers

  • Individual family consultations to address specific needs

How do I find a new facility for my loved one?

Our social worker is personally assisting each family with placement. We are working with state resources and local facilities to identify appropriate options. Families will receive individual consultation to discuss loved one's specific needs and preferences.

Will residents’ medical care be disrupted?

No. We are ensuring complete medical records, care plans, and physician information transfer smoothly to new facilities. Our staff will work directly with receiving facilities to maintain continuity of care.

Who can I contact with questions?

You can contact our Executive Director, Roderick Wolfe, who will serve as the primary family liaison. Reach out anytime at 931-206-7278 or executivedirector@DJJAssistedLiving.org

What has the assisted living center meant to Nashville?

For 21 years, the David Jones Jr. Assisted Living Center has provided compassionate, faith-based care to hundreds of seniors requiring daily living assistance. It has offered not just housing and care, but community, spiritual support, and dignity to vulnerable seniors and their families.

Will seniors continue to be served?

Absolutely. The independent living center continues to thrive and serve seniors who can live independently. We remain committed to senior ministry and are exploring future opportunities to serve seniors and families in sustainable ways.

What will happen to the assisted living building?

Decisions about the future will be made thoughtfully and prayerfully with recognition of our capabilities and consideration of our community’s needs.

How long has this decision been under consideration?

This decision came after months of prayer, deliberation, and exploring every possible alternative. The Board of Directors exhausted all options before making this difficult choice.

Were families and staff involved in the decision?

The Board of Directors made this decision based on financial realities and stewardship responsibilities. Families and staff were notified promptly after the Board determined the necessary details associated with the decision.

Could increased donations have prevented the closure?

The ongoing operational challenges would have required substantial, continuous community support indefinitely. Our review of alternatives, including the history and unlikelihood of sustained increased donations, was part of our responsible decision making which led to the decision to discontinue the operations.

Why wasn't this decision made sooner?

We delayed this decision as long as responsibly possible, hoping to find sustainable solutions. Because of our great desire to serve residents who need assisted care, our focus was on ways to sustain the operation through efficiency improvements and improved revenue generation, rather than discontinue the operation.

How can the community support affected families?

Prayers for residents, families, and staff during this transition are deeply appreciated.

How can I stay updated on the transition?

Updates will be posted regularly on this website. Families receive direct updates through our family liaison.

Can I visit residents during the transition?

Yes. Contact the David Jones, Jr. Assisted Living Center at 615-327-7928.
